Hospices De Beaujeu
Domaine de la Grange Charton
The Hospices de Beaujeu were founded by the Sires de Beaujeu in 1240.
Since 1270 to date, 250 benefactors have, through their donations of money, buildings and land, given life to Beaujeu hospital.
As a result of this today, the Beaujeu hospital owns 81 hectare of vines, estate building including La Grange Charton and 85 hectares of woods.
Profits from these estates and the wine auction are used to improve lodging and care for the sick and old people.
For around 20 years now, each cuvee is named after one of the Hospices' benefactors keeping their names alive.
The Wines
A quality selection of Beaujolais appellations is available from Hospices de Beaujeu: Beaujolais-Villages, Brouilly, Régnié, and Morgon.
